Mounted Crossbows

A crossbow is an effective and deadly weapon. So, too, a horse.

Much like their mounted archer counterparts, mounted crossbowmen are valued for their manoeuvrability on the battlefield. A contingent of warriors able to fire from range then swiftly retreat from any counter-attack is a useful tool to any commander. The crossbow has a particular benefit over the standard bow, however, in that it is far easier to use. This means that anyone able to ride a horse can be handed a crossbow and easily turned into a lethal force in battle.

Unit Abilities

  • Miasma
    The dense and tough undergrowth that plagues the jungles of the South is a hindrance to all those who try to penetrate into the heartlands of the Nanman.
  • Loose
    The unit spreads apart, making it more difficult for arrows to hit them.

    Can hide in forests.
  • FIRE WHILST MOVING
    Can fire while mounted and moving.
  • FIRE BACKWARDS
    Can fire in any direction.

Strengths & Weaknesses

  • Role: skirmishers
    Skirmishers serve to distract and soften up enemy troops, and are almost impossible to run down as they harass their targets.
  • Mobility
    Mounted archers use their impressive speed and manoeuvrability to stay out of reach of the enemy and encircle unprotected units.
  • Good against armour
    This unit's missiles are heavily tipped to drill through the strongest armour, but will still be deflected by shields.
