Northern Veteran Sabre Cavalry

The horse is a trusted and beloved, but oft-skittish companion on the battlefield. Not so with these cavalry, whose riders and steeds both are veterans, tested and forged in the fires of war.

Much like their other mounted comrades, these sabre cavalry excel in the melee, but are fashioned in even better armour befitting of their station. Their redoubtable discipline means they can be deployed about the battlefield with a devastatingly effective ease.

Unit Abilities

• Diamond
  The unit forms into a hard-edged diamond, good for both offence and defence but limiting manoeuvrability.
• Loose
  The unit spreads apart, making it more difficult for arrows to hit them.
• Wedge
  The unit forms into a spear-tip, best for driving directly through enemy lines.
• Miasma
  The dense and tough undergrowth that plagues the jungles of the South is a hindrance to all those who try to penetrate into the heartlands of the Nanman.

Attributes

• DISCIPLINED
  Does not suffer a morale penalty when the general dies. It can also rally after routing more often.
• ENCOURAGE
  Provides a morale bonus to nearby allies.
• RESISTANT TO FATIGUE
  Takes longer to feel fatigued.
• HIDE IN FOREST
  Can hide in forests.
• IMMUNE TO SCARE
  Immune to scare effects.

Strengths & Weaknesses

• Role: anti-missile
  A shielded and fast-moving unit that absorbs missile fire to charge into vulnerable missile units.
• Good armour
  Heavy armour protects this unit from most damage, but armour-piercing weapons will still pose a threat to them.
• Vulnerable to spears
  This unit's speed and mass will work against it if charging the pointy end of enemy spears!
