Arverni (Caesar in Gaul)

Although once the foremost power in Gaul, the Arverni’s defeat by the Romans in 121BC led to the loss of territory to both Rome and their neighbouring tribes, so there are many old scores to be settled. As their campaign begins, they have recently defeated the Rome-backed Aedui, with the support of the Sequani and the Germanic Suebi. In addition, Suebi pressure from the north has caused the unwelcome migration of the Helvetii, bringing further turmoil to the region, so the time is right for Vercingetorix of the Arverni to bring the whole of Gaul under his banner.
