When Caesar invaded Britannia in 55BC he reported a surprising level of technological and social advancement. The Iceni are exquisite goldsmiths, and have a centralised capital city that further belies their barbarian reputation. Based in the flatlands of the east, they have mastered the art of hit-and-run chariot warfare, combining javelin barrages and melee to devastating effect. Their remoteness enables them to bide their time, observing the turmoil in the ‘civilised’ world until the perfect time for conquest arises…
