Ye Vanguard Crossbows
It is often the thud of crossbow bolts into the enemy that signals the onset of battle.The crossbow is dangerous not only because of its innate destructive potential, but because it can be used with the bare minimum of training. Unlike a composite bow, which requires expert training to be used effectively, all a crossbowman need know is how to knock and ready the weapon; then it is as simple as pulling the trigger.
If the weapon is combined with a warrior of passing or even exceptional skill, then a cadre of crossbowmen become a fearful force on the battlefield!

The unit splits into missiles at the back, in rows, with melee in front protecting them. -

The unit spreads apart, making it more difficult for arrows to hit them.
