Northern Sabre Cavalry

The intention of the Han's northern army was to defend against tribal threats, and if possible to put them to rout. None are better suited to that task than the sabre cavalry. Although their thundering charge is a sight to behold, their true value comes from their endurance in melee.

Once the dust has settled from a powerful charge, these horsemen will remain, deflecting blows with reinforced armour, and aiming to shatter morale with savage hacks, slicing through body and mind both.

Unit Abilities

• Miasma
  The dense and tough undergrowth that plagues the jungles of the South is a hindrance to all those who try to penetrate into the heartlands of the Nanman.
• Loose
  The unit spreads apart, making it more difficult for arrows to hit them.
• Wedge
  The unit forms into a spear-tip, best for driving directly through enemy lines.

Attributes

• DISCIPLINED
  Does not suffer a morale penalty when the general dies. It can also rally after routing more often.
• RESISTANT TO FATIGUE
  Takes longer to feel fatigued.
• HIDE IN FOREST
  Can hide in forests.

Strengths & Weaknesses

• Role: anti-missile
  A shielded and fast-moving unit that absorbs missile fire to charge into vulnerable missile units.
• Mobility
  Melee cavalry use their speed to outmanoeuvre their enemies, striking at exposed flanks and vulnerable units.
• Vulnerable to spears
  This unit's speed and mass will work against it if charging the pointy end of enemy spears!
