Roman Influence

As Romans steadily expanded into the east they realised Armenia's immense strategic importance – friendship and an alliance with the kingdom would grease the wheels of the Roman war machine on its way towards Persian lands. Armenians, on the other hand, often relied on Roman interests in order to promote their own agenda. They were not always successful, however, and Armenia passed from the Persian sphere of influence into Roman control, and vice versa, several times.
