Village oriental (marbre)

The Astures and Cantabrii are groups of indigenous tribes with similar Celtic-influenced but distinctive cultures, well-known for their fierceness, lust for freedom, and indomitable character.

Milites Ilergetum
(Illergetan Soldiers)

These Iberians wear a helmet of typical Ilergetan design, with the characteristic neck guard, padded armour and large scutum adopted from the Gallic tribes across the Pyrenees. For weapons, they use javelins and a longsword, most likely imported from Gaul through the Greek colony of Emporion. Greek and Phoenician elements are also abundant in their culture, foreign motifs being common in their art. While not an elite contingent in the Ilergetan army, these troops are good quality. They are brave and relatively well-equipped, dependable line infantry.

Thureophoroi Indohellenikoi
(Indo-Hellenic Thureos Spears) These spearmen are the lightest component of the regular Indo-Greek phalanx line, equipped with a fairly light linothorax and pteryges, and an equally light helm, though a heavy thureos shield and bronze greaves afford them substantially greater defensive coverage then the traditional hoplitai of distant Hellas.

Peltastai Indohellenikoi
(Indo-Hellenic Peltasts) Gone is the close phalanx formation and the long spear, replaced by a somewhat looser but more skilled melee formation. They wear Phrygian style helmets, light cotton Thracian trousers, and carry javelins, in addition to a smaller and lighter shield. The Indo-Greeks have adapted quite well to the environment of India and have prospered. Many have become Buddhists, though they still remain fierce warriors, true to their Hellenic forefathers.

Cavalerie / Cavalerie de mêlée / (AOR_23_iranian_light_cav)
Kamboja Asvaka Ksatriya
(Indo-Iranian Light Cavalry) Master horsemen and horse traders, Kambojas never leave an opportunity to plunder using their light cavalry. Living on both sides of the Khyber Pass, they are a part of the Arya races which stormed and conquered India, some 1500 years before. Their helmet is an evolved Boiotian one, and their primary cuirass is a quilted silk one. Their weapons are clearly Hellenic: a round aspis shield, a short kontos spear that could be held underarm in a couched stance, and a sturdy kopis for when the spear gives way.""

Dardanioi Sicaphoroi
(Thraco-Illyrian Sica-Bearers)

This kind of Thraco-Illyrian heavy infantry is modelled on the nearby Triballi elite warriors and Thracian mercenaries in general. While having the typical Thraco-Phrygian helmet or the more popular Chalcidian type, they bear a frightening curved sica as their main weapon. Used as assault infantry, they precede their attack by launching javelins. Although highly skiled, they wear almost no armour.

Most of these light skimishers are dressed in their everyday clothing, which includes loincloths, skirts, and short-sleeved shirts. The majority fight bare-chested, armed with daggers and throwing spears. These troops require relatively little training and financial investment, relying mostly on widespread natural skills and scant gear, while still providing some useful service.

Kseptrayah
(Indian Tribal Slingers)

These slingers from the mountain and forest tribes carry small leather slings, just as easily used for hunting game as for hunting men. They carry no shields, as they do not intend to close with their prey until already downed. Nonetheless, they carry simple wooden clubs, useful for disposing their injured prey, but which can also be used for self-defence in melee, should the situation call for it. As speed and flexibility are key to their battlefield tactics, they wear no cumbersome armour, and their dress is the same simple clothing that they would wear on the hunt, or out foraging.

These men, armed with spears and shields, are the mainstay of the Indian infantry. Some of the warriors wear a simple armoured corselet, made from strips of hardened leather. Their spears, which they wield in an underarm position, are made of wood or bamboo, with iron spearheads.

300 Thazhvar Sirupadai
Infanterie de mêlée / Infanterie de mêlée / (ind_tribal_swordsmen)
Thazhvar Sirupadai
(Dravidian Sickle-Swordsmen)

The Dravidian Hindu tribes, inhabiting regions of southern India, are fearsome warriors, wielding the Aruvaazh (or Sickle-Sword), a single-sided heavy sword. They wear no armour, much like the North Indian tribes. These men are more spiritual and fanatical, hence they are very warlike in nature. Their attitude gives them tirelessness and ferocity in battle.
