The only way to counteract an enemy cavalry charge is to wait until the horses are close and brace with long spears.

A horse at full gallop can easily break the staunchest of defences, so the trick is to use their speed, weight and power against them so that they pierce themselves upon the points of the spears.

These bandits possess the courage needed for such a strategy and are brave enough to sneak into enemy territory and capture key strategic points.

Unit Abilities

• Caltrops
  Simple nut husks, once trodden upon, cause extreme pain and slow movement.
• Miasma
  The dense and tough undergrowth that plagues the jungles of the South is a hindrance to all those who try to penetrate into the heartlands of the Nanman.
• Hollowed Square
  The unit forms into a hollow square, presenting spears and pikes to any attacker - particularly cavalry - on all four sides.
• Loose
  The unit spreads apart, making it more difficult for arrows to hit them.
• Spear Wall
  The unit presents a wall of spear-points to the enemy - a strong formation that allows the unit to advance slowly but safely whilst defending against charges.

  Reduces nearby enemy morale. Does not stack.
• CHARGE REFLECTION VS. MOUNTED
  Reflects the charge damage of any mounted attacker back onto them when braced.

  This unit can deploy outside the deployment zone.

  Can hide in forests.
• RAIDER
  Idle soldiers will burn down nearby buildings.

Strengths & Weaknesses

• Role: anti-cavalry
  These units are strong against flanking units such as cavalry, so are best used to protect vulnerable flanks.
• Guerrilla deployment
  These units have the advantage of being able to deploy behind enemy lines to strike at unexpecting targets.
• Causes scare
  This unit is terrifying to its foes and reduces the morale of nearby enemies.
