They are armoured in leather and carry a medium-sized ovular shield. Their weapons consist of several javelins and a sword. This panoply makes them light and mobile, but still able to engage in melee after their javelins have been thrown.

These men are mostly lower class herders. The tribesmen are not wealthy, so they march to war in only their simple garments, carrying a light shield and their own, often homemade sling, in addition to a dagger for self-defence.
