Shrine of Amani
"Lord of truth, father of the gods."Among the Egyptians and their neighbours, Amani (Amun to the Egyptians) was considered the creator of all life. Eventually, in Nubia, he became associated with the birth of its rulers was even considered to be the father of the other gods in their pantheon. At some point, the Egyptians thought that Amun originated on a small mountain, Gebel Barkal, in Nubia. As time went on, they came to believe that Amun came to Nubian queens in human form to impregnate them with the kingdom's future divine rulers. These sons and daughters grew up to become the rulers of Nubia; as such, many were given some form of the god's name, most notably the Kushite king, Arakamani, and queen, Amanitore.
