Nisean Stables
There are princes, even among horses.Eastern cavalry had both Hellenistic and Persian influences, with the more easterly states favouring cataphract-style scale armour, in the Parthian fashion, protecting both rider and horse. As a result, the Seleucid kings that followed Alexander maintained two 1,000-man units of elite cavalry, the Hetairoi, modelled on Parthian cataphracts. Following the Alexandrian and Parthian examples, heavy cavalry were a hammer in the tactical toolbox of eastern generals, driving off their opposite numbers before outflanking and exploiting vulnerable infantry flanks. This was helped by the use of a wedge formation to drive into the enemy and break their ordered lines.

Cavalry / Missile Cavalry / (Ara_Cav) Farasin (Arabian Light Cavalry) The tribes that provide these cavalry forces are generally nomadic, and as such they spend more time mounted than on foot, even if the mount is often a camel rather than a horse. In battle these men are a highly skilled light cavalry contingent, exceedingly useful for skirmishing, pursuit, and harassment. |

Cavalry / Melee Cavalry / (nab_early_cav) Farasin Khafif (Nabataean Medium Cavalry) These lightly armed men are not much to look at, clad in simple attire and armed with the most rudimentary axes and shields, but they are far more capable soldiers than they seem at first glance. Exceedingly loyal to their lords, they are much more reliable than their Eastern levy counterparts, and their experience in years of both tribal skirmishing and warfare has made them into warriors of surprising merit and skill. |

Cavalry / Melee Cavalry / (nab_heavy_cav) Farasin Khabarin (Nabataean Heavy Cavalry) These men are the core of the heavy cavalry in Nabataea. Rich enough to afford leather armour, they are equipped with spears and shields, and can successfully counter the enemy's horsemen. |

Cavalry / Missile Cavalry / (nab_horse_archers) Farasin Qesate (Nabataean Horse Archers) Being lightly armoured, these horse archers are ill-suited for melee engagements except with other horsemen of their ilk, though they do have a high-quality sword and helmet for when they must fight in close quarters with the enemy, preferably from his flank or rear. |

Cavalry / Shock Cavalry / (nab_lancers) Faras haRamat (Nabataean Lancers) These lancers combine good old-fashioned Greek know-how with the practical needs of an effective medium cavalry force. These warriors have excellent equipment, carrying leather armour, Greek helmets, a kontos lance, and a sword. |

Cavalry / Melee Cavalry / (nab_noble_cav) Natarin haRabb (Nabataean Bodyguard Cavalry) Every Nabataean nobleman surrounds himself with fierce warriors who make up his personal guard. These riders are the elite and are to be used in times of crisis. The men of the guard are equipped with a lance, sword, shield and leather armour. Agile and powerful, they can be used anywhere on the battlefield and against any enemy. |
