Ein gut ausgebildetes Pferd ist sein Gewicht in Rindern wert.

Pferde spielten in der keltischen Gesellschaft eine wichtige Rolle, sowohl in spiritueller als auch praktischer Hinsicht. Viele römische Schriftsteller schreiben den Kelten offen große Reitkunst zu und gehen sogar so weit, keltische Söldner als beste Kavallerie der römischen Armee zu bezeichnen. Die Römer übernahmen eine keltische Gottheit, in der Hoffnung, etwas von der keltischen Fachkunde im Umgang mit Pferden auf Rom zu übertragen. Epona ist eine der wenigen Gottheiten, die unverändert in das römische Pantheon aufgenommen wurden, wenn sich auch ihre Rolle mit der Zeit änderte. Schließlich wurde sie Schutzherrin all jener, die mit Pferden arbeiteten, und nicht nur der Tiere selbst. Sie war bei der römischen Kavallerie beliebt und ihr Kult verbreitete sich überall dort in Europa, wo die Römer Kavalleriegarnisonen hatten.

The beltistai's loyalty is unquestionable and their ferocity unmatched. Indeed, the Ktistai are so close to the king, that his royal successor will either be chosen from their ranks, or become pontifex maximus of the priesthood. Those recruited for the Beltistai Korps must have been trained from infancy, and the secretive nature of their order will render them ideal for the purposes of any strong ruler.

2	120	Kavallerie / Geschosskavallerie / (Dac_Horse_Archers) Getikoi Hippotoxotai (Dacian Horse Archers) The Getae horse archers have a long and proud tradition, having developed superb skills in confrontations with the Scythians and Sarmatians. These warriors are not drawn from every Getic tribe, but from the tribes living in the Danube delta or from the Agathyrsoi living inside the arch of the Karpathes. The Hellenes called all men living in modern-day Romania and northern Bulgaria for Getai after this tribe, while the Romans called them Dacians, which is the norm today.

They often form the main volunteer force for pillaging raids. Attached to the Getic nobility, these warriors often have better equipment than their fellow Getic warriors. They are armoured with chainmail and large oval shields. They carry a spear and the sica blade. They are fearsome, well-armoured, all-round cavalry that look upon war as a class affair.
