Пехота с пиками
Благодаря длинным пикам они почти несокрушимы при атаке в лоб, но уязвимы, если зайти к ним во фланг. Исключительно эффективны в бою против конницы.

Пехота ближнего боя / Пехота с пиками / (thr_reformed_hoplites) Thrakioi Iphikratous Phalangitai (Thracian Iphikratean Pikemen) Iphikrates' main reform was to equip his soldiers like lightweight hoplites. They wear the equipment of the peltast, with boots and also a light leather or linen cuirass, instead of the traditional muscled bronze cuirass, in addtion to a light Thracian or Phrygian helmet. Their weapons include a sword, a longer spear, and a light pelte shield instead of the heavy hoplon, so they can handle their spears with the left hand as well, which allows these units to wield sarissas. |

Пехота ближнего боя / Пехота с пиками / (AOR_29_chalybes_spearmen) Chalyboi Doryphoroi (Chalybes Spearmen) The armour of these spearmen consists of a leather helmet, greaves, and a long quilted linen tunic. Instead of the leather pteryges of a Greek corselet, the Chalybes have plaited cords to provide protection below the cuirass. Their main weapon is a long spear. They are useful against light infantry, but their lack of shields means they are vulnerable to enemy arrows. |

Their weapons include the dory, xiphos, and the classic large aspis shield. However, they are more mobile than classic hoplites, useful as flanking heavy infantry rather than a central phalanx unit. |
