步兵帳篷

組織征兵需要規劃和空間。

軍事力量的召集需要仔細計劃。預備役常常自己配備武器，如矛和盾、標槍甚至是箭。如果無法武裝整齊，他們就會用國庫裡的錢來裝備自己。這也需要時間，臨時營地是使所有人裝備齊全的最便捷的方式。

根據環境和人口，預備役的永久的住處或者兵營便會建造起來。以營房為基地的部隊可用於補充鎮上的哨兵或者，充當邊界巡邏員以及貿易線路的保衛者。即便如此，召集來的預備役通常都缺乏訓練，比貴族、職業軍人或者雇傭兵的裝備要差。
