Strategic Hellenistic capital.

Antik dünyada bile şehirler, insanların uzun zamandır yaşadıkları yerlerde kuruluyordu çünkü bu bölgeler, nehirlerin kesiştiği, doğal kaynaklar açısından zengin, sel veya diğer doğal afetlerden uzakta, korunaklı yerlerdi.

Sahiplerinin tüm gayretlerine rağmen şehirler, nadiren bir plana sahipti. Şehirlerde kamu binalarının geniş, açık sokaklarda bulunduğu, tapınakların ihtişamla yükseldiği ve varlıklı aristokrat evlerinin yavan ön cephelerin ardında gizlendiği bölümler bulunabiliyordu. Fakat aynı şekilde eğer yanlış yönde birkaç adım atacak olursanız kendinizi duvarlarının arasında ufacık boşlukların yer aldığı, arka sokaklardan, dip dibe inşa edilmiş evlerden, yıkık gecekondulardan, meyhanelerden, genelevlerden ve kesimhanelerden oluşan bir labirentte bulabilirdiniz.

Şehirler, tüm güzellikleri ve tüm çirkinlikleriyle birlikte dünyanın küçültülmüş hali gibiydi. Romalılar ve Yunanlar, şehirleri ve karmaşık hayatları için gurur duyarlar ve aynı zamanda sadece birkaç yüz metre ötede bulunan pislik ve zevksizlik dolu arka sokaklarından iğrenirlerdi.

They are trained from childhood to be soldiers, and when not called out to fight on campaigns in distant lands, they practice hunting on the vast plains of Persia.

These soldiers are armoured in quilted linen and carry large rectangular wicker shields as a form of light manoeuvrable defence.

7	200	Yakın Piyade / Yakın Piyade / (Eas_Atr_Elite_Infantry) Poy-Darsam (Persian Elite Infantry) This unit is comprised of some of the greatest warriors in the ancient world. Poy-Darsam are armed with a wooden palta shield, and characteristic axes and maces. They wear brilliant corselets of heavy scales to protect against the fiercest attacks, and they can hold their own in even a protracted melee. Their great pride and honour prevent them from wearing any head protection however, as that would be considered a cowardly and shameful act.
