Atlar Kelt toplumunda, hem maddi hem de manevi anlamda önemli bir yer tutardı. Birçok Romalı yazar, Keltlerin at kullanımındaki harika becerileri konusunda hemfikir olmuş ve Kelt paralı askerlerinin Roma ordusundaki en iyi süvariler olduklarını belirtmişlerdir. Hatta Romalılar Keltlerin at konusundaki bilgi ve yeteneklerini kendilerine de bahşetmesi umuduyla bir Kelt tanrısını benimsemişlerdi. Epona, bütün Roma tanrıları içinde değişime uğramadan kabul edilmiş birkaç tanrıdan biridir. Ancak rolü zamanla geliştirilmiştir. Nihayetinde sadece hayvanlarla değil de atlarla çalışan kişilere koruma sağlayan bir hale gelmiştir. Epona, Roma süvarileri arasında popüler bir tanrıydı ve Romalıların Avrupa’da süvari garnizonları bulundurduğu yerler boyunca kendisine duyulan inanç yayıldı.

The beltistai's loyalty is unquestionable and their ferocity unmatched. Indeed, the Ktistai are so close to the king, that his royal successor will either be chosen from their ranks, or become pontifex maximus of the priesthood. Those recruited for the Beltistai Korps must have been trained from infancy, and the secretive nature of their order will render them ideal for the purposes of any strong ruler.

2	120	Süvari / Menzilli Süvari / (Dac_Light_Cavalry) Mezenai (Dacian Horse Skirmishers) These horsemen form the mounted counterparts of the Komatai war bands. They ride into battle in studded leather armour and trousers, and carry javelins and short swords. Their nimble horses allow for very good performance in any type of terrain; they are often used to screen flanks and pursue broken enemy formations.

3	100	Süvari / Yakın Süvari / (Dac_Med_Cavalry) Tarabostes (Dacian Cavalry) The Tarabostes are mounted warbands comprised of warriors, usually veterans, attached to a war chief. They often form the main volunteer force for pillaging raids. Attached to the Getic nobility, these warriors often have better equipment than their fellow Getic warriors. They are armoured with chainmail and large oval shields. They carry a spear and the sica blade. They are fearsome, well-armoured, all-round cavalry that look upon war as a class affair.

They carry no armour to speak of, except small round shields, and are armed with slings and a dagger. They are usually very young men and their role is merely to try and force the enemy into acting rashly; however, troops lacking armour can still pay dearly facing when them.
