Bir savaşçı güvenebileceği bir silaha ihtiyaç duyar.Kabilelerin, nehir ve suyolu tanrılarına sundukları adaklar sayesinde bütün Avrupa’da göllerin ve nehirlerin diplerinde pek çok tunç eserler bulunmuştur. İngiltere, Londra’da bulunan Thames Nehri zamanında yerli kabileler için ayrı bir öneme sahip olmalı ki, yıllar boyunca dibinde birtakım tunç eserler bulunmuştur. İki boynuzlu bir merasim eşyası olan Waterloo Miğferi 1868’de bulundu. Ayrıca Wandsworth ve Battersea kalkanları da nehirden çıkarılmıştır ve şu anda İngiliz Müzesi'nde sergilenmektedirler. Hiç hasar almamış olduğu ve üzerinde savaşa hazır hâle gelmesi için gereken gücü veren ahşap dayanağa geçirilmiş olduğuna dair hiçbir iz bulunmadığı için miğfer gibi Battersea Kalkanı'nın da bir merasim eşyası olduğu düşünülmektedir.
