Strategic Hellenistic capital.

Antik dünyada bile şehirler, insanların uzun zamandır yaşadıkları yerlerde kuruluyordu çünkü bu bölgeler, nehirlerin kesiştiği, doğal kaynaklar açısından zengin, sel veya diğer doğal afetlerden uzakta, korunaklı yerlerdi.

Sahiplerinin tüm gayretlerine rağmen şehirler, nadiren bir plana sahipti. Şehirlerde kamu binalarının geniş, açık sokaklarda bulunduğu, tapınakların ihtişamla yükseldiği ve varlıklı aristokrat evlerinin yavan ön cephelerin ardında gizlendiği bölümler bulunabiliyordu. Fakat aynı şekilde eğer yanlış yönde birkaç adım atacak olursanız kendinizi duvarlarının arasında ufacık boşlukların yer aldığı, arka sokaklardan, dip dibe inşa edilmiş evlerden, yıkık gecekondulardan, meyhanelerden, genelevlerden ve kesimhanelerden oluşan bir labirentte bulabilirdiniz.

Şehirler, tüm güzellikleri ve tüm çirkinlikleriyle birlikte dünyanın küçültülmüş hali gibiydi. Romalılar ve Yunanlar, şehirleri ve karmaşık hayatları için gurur duyarlar ve aynı zamanda sadece birkaç yüz metre ötede bulunan pislik ve zevksizlik dolu arka sokaklarından iğrenirlerdi.

Such tasks require brute force, but also sheer courage, to be able to survive to the first assault, immediately followed by swordsmen and spearmen.

2	300	Yakın Piyade / Mızraklı Piyade / (bel_levy_spearmen) Bagaudoi (Belgae Levy Spearmen) The Bagaudas are not warriors. They are peasants levied for war and trained for a time with warriors. They are poorely equipped for the most part, relying on their wooden shields for protection, and using a spear for defence and close fighting.

3	300	Yakın Piyade / Mızraklı Piyade / (bel_peasants) Atecti (Belgae Peasants) With a wicker shield and a spear, these peasants are useful and cheap to muster. They have few truly military tasks. They act as a rearguard, mostly to protect the baggage train on campaign, and to support the more experienced Bagaudas in a line. But these men are not experienced and have no training, so they are more useful as a local defence militia.

4	300	Yakın Piyade / Yakın Piyade / (bel_shortswordsmen) Kluddobro (Belgae Shortswordsmen) The Kluddobro are young but skilled warriors, acting on the wings with other Excingoi (flank warriors). They have several tasks, but mostly to outflank the enemy center and then disrupt the enemy lines.
