乾船渠
The home of the fleet, where mastery of the sea is planned. For most civilisations, military dominance has always included mastery of the sea. It was always far easier to move men and material by sea than march them overland. Suppressing pirates and protecting trade was merely an extra benefit. Construction of good military vessels was therefore vital, with all kinds of ships from patrol biremes to colossal battle quinqueremes needed for a balanced force. Mastery of the sea prevented invasions too, and could even be a tool of diplomacy. By the Apamea treaty in 188BC, Rome limited the power of the Seleucid Empire by dictating the number of warships the Seleucids were allowed. When Antiochus V Eupator broke the treaty, the Romans sent delegations to Syrian cities, charged with sinking the excess warships.

Light Ship / 近接艦 / (Eas_Assault_Bireme_Arab) Assault Dieres - Gunud haMadnakha A bireme is a 30 meter long oared warship (galley) with two decks of oars, thought to have been invented by the Phoenicians in the 8th century BCE. Often called a liburnia in later Roman fleets, these swift yet durable warships are excellent for boarding actions and coastal patrols. (East Coast Levies) These raiders and pirates dominate the military stage of Eastern Arabia. They are light infantry equipped with padded armour worn over their tunics and wicker shields, giving them some protection against arrows. They are swift, agile troops, and their spears give them an edge against light cavalry. |

Light Ship / 飛び道具艦 / (Eas_Pursuit_Hemolia_Arab) Pursuit Trihemiolia - Gunud Shbeta The trihemiolia is a lighter version of the trireme, with two and a half rows of oars. Developed by the Rhodians, it has been their favoured ship design for centuries and is an ideal pirate hunter, able to keep up with lighter raiding ships. (Light Archer Spearmen) These lightly armoured Arabian archers are versatile troops. Equipped with bows and spears, these men are able to provide an army with ranged support while also acting as light spearmen. However, the versatility of these troops is their main advantage, and they should not be expected to hold out for long in melee against disciplined opponents. |
