Hall of Champions
Fire destroys but it can also create.Due to the tribal practice of making votive offerings to gods of rivers and waterways, many bronze artefacts have been discovered at the bottom of lakes and rivers all over Europe. The River Thames in London, England must have held particular significance to the local tribes as a number of bronze work pieces have been discovered on the bottom over the years. The Waterloo Helmet, a ceremonial piece with two horns, was discovered in 1868, and the Wandsworth and Battersea shields were also recovered from the river and now reside in the British Museum. Like the helmet, the Battersea Shield is thought to be a ceremonial piece as there is no evidence of damage and no sign that it was ever attached to a wooden base, which would have given it the strength it required to be battle ready.

Melee Infantry / Spear Infantry / (Cel_Caturige_Gaedann) Caturige Gaedann (Caturiges Spearmen) The Gaedann (Guy-dun; Spear Carriers") are warriors of the savage and fierce Caturiges. These Alpine warriors are hardy and capable of shattering enemies with a fierce charge. They employ javelins and thrusting spears, and defend themselves with fair-quality shields and Celtic bronze chest plates. Alpine tribes in Gaul are generally slightly behind or unusual in their development by comparison to their neighbors. This gives them a savage, uncivilized reputation: not necessarily a bad thing in combat." |

Melee Infantry / Spear Infantry / (Cel_Mori_Gaesum) Mori Gaesum (Helvetii Spearmen) The Mori Gaesum are elite mercenary units of Helvetii origin. The Helvetii tribes are more known for their fierceness than their unity. As such, many of the great warriors of each tribe sell their services to the highest bidder. Some of these men are used to facing Hellenic armies and, consequently, have incorporated some of their enemies' tactics into their own. |

Melee Infantry / Spear Infantry / (Cel_Noricene_Gaecori) Noricene Gaecori (Alpine Spear Band) Noricene Gaecorii (Guy-kur-ee-eye) are a product of the Celtic, Italic, and Hellenistic influences present in Noricum. They are essentially a Celtic warband, but with reinforced oval shields. These men are semi-professional soldiers, not levies, despite their simple armaments. They are from the mountains, and, as such, are more resistant to the elements than most - a truth which renders them quite hardy. Their throwing spears aren't of the greatest quality, but they can soften an enemy before they charge. |
