Nisean Stables
There are princes, even among horses.Eastern cavalry had both Hellenistic and Persian influences, with the more easterly states favouring cataphract-style scale armour, in the Parthian fashion, protecting both rider and horse. As a result, the Seleucid kings that followed Alexander maintained two 1,000-man units of elite cavalry, the Hetairoi, modelled on Parthian cataphracts. Following the Alexandrian and Parthian examples, heavy cavalry were a hammer in the tactical toolbox of eastern generals, driving off their opposite numbers before outflanking and exploiting vulnerable infantry flanks. This was helped by the use of a wedge formation to drive into the enemy and break their ordered lines.

Cavalry / Chariot / (ind_heavy_chariots) Ksatriya Arya Rathas (Indian Chariot Archers) Riding in horse-drawn chariots, these warriors come from the elite section of the Kshatriya caste, superseding most other warriors in both skill and wealth. They take honour in fighting in the same manner as the ancient Vedic-Aryan heroes of bygone days, and attempt to equal the bravery of Krishna and Arjuna in battle. They are skilled in all types of fighting, but their favoured weapon is the composite bow. |

Cavalry / Missile Cavalry / (ind_light_cav) Laghu Asvanika (Indian Light Cavalry) Armed with javelins and swords, Indian light cavalry is very good for skirmishing duties and pursuing routing enemies. These warriors are light skirmishing cavalry, not intended for charging or fighting in melee. They are primarily used for support and screening purposes, and will quickly break if caught in close combat by enemy troops. They are best used for harassing the enemy’s flanks, and their speed makes them excellent for chasing down routing enemies. |
