Barbarian Town (Salt)
Many hungry mouths are filled in a town.Roman and Greek historians often described the barbarian tribes as wandering people who lived for the hunt and knew little of farming and construction. Nothing could be further from the truth. A number of structures have been discovered that show that so-called 'barbarians' had a firm grasp of building techniques and were able to construct homes and defences that have survived for thousands of years. Brochs, dry stone buildings found in Scotland, survived the harsh weather and provide interesting information about the people who built them. Many were multi-storey dwellings and historians still debate their use: some believe they were defensive structures; others argue they may have been prestige buildings, symbols of wealth and power.

Melee Infantry / Spear Infantry / (AOR_4_Belgae_Levies) Eburonae Lugoae (Belgae Levies) During periods of strife and war, it is sometimes necessary to call upon ordinary citizens to organize as militia. Called Lugoae, militia in Celtic societies are farmers, craftsmen, fishermen, and so on, called to brief military service in periods of crisis. They may train a few times a year to fight, and games and sports encourage a decent level of physicality, but they're still only militia, and can only be trusted to do so much. |

Melee Infantry / Spear Infantry / (AOR_4_Belgae_Spearmen) Batacorii (Belgae Spear Warriors) Batacorii are the rank-and-file warriors of the Belgae, a group of extremely fierce and highly independent Gallo-Germanic tribes living in Northern Gaul, who are well-trained and experienced in war. Shunning the comforts often afforded the members of 'civilised' states, they pride themselves on their rugged way of life, their toughness of mind and body, and their skill at arms. |

Melee Infantry / Hoplite/Pike Infantry / (AOR_9_Campanian_Hoplites) Kampanioi Hoplitai (Campanian Hoplites) These men are typical hoplites, wearing feathered or crested helmets, along with greaves and breastplates. Their weapons include the dory, xiphos, and the classic large aspis shield. However, they are more mobile than classic hoplites, useful as flanking heavy infantry rather than a central phalanx unit. |

Melee Infantry / Melee Infantry / (AOR_9_Italy_Taurisci_Axemen) Taurisci Securiferi (Taurisci Axemen) One of the last Ligurian tribes to survive the Boii and Gallic invasions and assimilation, the Taurisci survive in central Italy. Seen as barbarians by the Romans and most of the southern Italic civilisations, they are equipped with a scutum, javelins, and a deadly light axe, similar to the Illyrian and Venetian tribes. These axemen are renowned as assault infantry. |

Melee Infantry / Spear Infantry / (Ibe_Arevakos_Heavy_Infantry) Moriuoroi (Celtiberian Heavy Infantry) These soldiers are men of station who have a stake in the fate of their oppida, and will fight to the death to protect their social status, and the honour and independence of their people the Celtiberian fanatical defence of their lands is legendary. As warriors, they are used to the relatively low-intensity warfare of raiding enemy tribes, but also quite familiar with marching abroad in large numbers to serve as mercenaries in the wars that regularly consume the Mediterranean. |

Melee Infantry / Spear Infantry / (Ibe_Arevakos_Medium_Spear) Retukenoi (Celtiberian Spearmen) They may be potters, cobblers, and farmers when not called to arms, but this should not give one reason to dismiss their potential as warriors. The Retukenoi may not have the blue blood of their comrades, nor the swords and high-crested helmets, but they will still hold the line when asked, they will still pepper the enemy with javelins, and they will still run down and trample all those who seek to put a yoke on their people. |

Melee Infantry / Spear Infantry / (Ibe_Arevakos_Spear) Iberi Milites (Celtberian Light Spearmen) These men are warriors that are levied when there is dire need for it. Recruited from all professions of Iberian society, they form a surprisingly reliable and versatile militia. As with many warriors in Iberia, they use the usual combination of javelin and spear to fight. |

Melee Infantry / Melee Infantry / (Ibe_Arevakos_Sword) Iberi Caetrati (Celtiberian Light Infantry) Caetrati are a deceptive type of infantry. Able light troops, they can skirmish while softening their enemy before closing in for hand-to-hand combat. Four things contribute to this capability: their agility on the battlefield, their all-metal heavy javelins ("soliferrum"), the traditional Iberian ferocity, and their superb swordsmanship. |

Cavalry / Melee Cavalry / (Supply_Iberian) Baggage Train Baggage trains, if attached to an army, grant additional supplies for a limited number of turns, varying for each campaign based on turns per year. A baggage train can supply armies even under harsh weather conditions, and is vital for prolonged military campaigns. |
