Due to the tribal practice of making votive offerings to gods of rivers and waterways, many bronze artefacts have been discovered at the bottom of lakes and rivers all over Europe. The River Thames in London, England must have held particular significance to the local tribes as a number of bronze work pieces have been discovered on the bottom over the years. The Waterloo Helmet, a ceremonial piece with two horns, was discovered in 1868, and the Wandsworth and Battersea shields were also recovered from the river and now reside in the British Museum. Like the helmet, the Battersea Shield is thought to be a ceremonial piece as there is no evidence of damage and no sign that it was ever attached to a wooden base, which would have given it the strength it required to be battle ready.

They march at a slow pace in silence, and then charge with a tremendous energy at close range, spearhead first. The spears are three meters long and designed so that the second rank can support the first.

They are great defensive troops, but are also useful for slow-paced, phalanx-type battle, and their tradition is still maintained on the other side on the Alps, as testified by the Helvetii.

But in some cases, experienced warriors are needed to perform breakthrough actions or to act as sappers, particularly when the enemy is entrenched. So the Bogiocingetoi, literally puncher-walkers," are axemen well-equipped for such work."

This is not all solely due to skill and strength, though they are experienced and huge, muscular men. They imbibe a chemical before battle, making them seemingly impervious to pain.

They are superbly skilled fighters, and protect their master to the death. Solduroi (meaning marching around") are front-line speamen, marching in a phalanx when in close order."

Perfect line-breakers, they can also be described as young "champions," not wealthy enough to afford armour. They are tattooed and usually naked, their hair painted and coated with white cender to be more impressive."
