Stables
A warrior cannot ride a sheep into battle!Horses played an important role in Celtic society, both spiritually and practically. Many Roman writers freely admitted that the Celts were excellent horsemen, and they went as far as calling Celtic mercenaries the best cavalry in the Roman army. The Romans even adopted a Celtic deity in the hope that she would bestow the equine knowledge and skill of the Celts upon Rome. Epona is one of very few deities to be accepted into the Roman pantheon without change, although her role did develop over time. Eventually, she provided protection for all those who worked with horses and not just the animals themselves. She was a popular deity among the Roman cavalry, and her cult spread across Europe wherever the Romans had cavalry garrisons.

Cavalry / Melee Cavalry / (Ger_scandinavian_horsemen) Gautoz Ridanz (Scandinavian Light Cavalry) The Gautoz live in southern Sweden, today's Götaland. These Germanic horsemen use neither saddles, nor stirrups: inventions which would later be introduced by invading peoples from the east. When combined with light infantry, these light cavalrymen offer great tactical speed and versatility on the battlefield. |

Melee Infantry / Spear Infantry / (Ger_scandinavian_Spearmen) Suiones Druhtiz (Scandinavian Spearmen) From lands with a harsh climate in eastern Svealand, these people are accustomed to fighting every day for their own survival. In warfare it is up to each man to prove his own bravery and worth, so their uniquely savage charge into the enemy enables them to perform slightly better than their neighbours in that respect. |
