An artistic eye can be useful and profitable.

Many Roman writers attempted to reduce the Celts to a crude people who lived for war and little else. When describing the Celts of the Po Valley, Polybius commented that “their lives are very simple, and they had no knowledge whatsoever of art or science”. Due to archaeological finds we know this to be an oversimplification of a very complex society, and beautiful examples of Celtic art found all over Europe tell a very different story. Items like the Gundestrup Cauldron and the Desborough Mirror show that the Celts had excellent metalworking skills, an artistic eye and the ability to tell stories through their art. The intricate detail on the cauldron was preserved by the peat bog in which it was discovered. The glass used in the figures' eyes gives us some idea of the excellent artistic and craft abilities of the men who made the Cauldron.

Their bravery is unquestionable, and their skill at arms is superb. They are armed and outfitted with the best equipment available. Also, they are charged with defending the Great Gallic Council" where Celts try to solve their internal grievances diplomatically: a job they do with great severity and pride."

They utilize well-made longspears, and a few decent javelins, making them both fair melee warriors and impromptu skirmishers. They have some combat experience, but are not yet battle-hardened. While not armoured, they have large oval shields which provide good protection. They are fairly well trained and their shields provide a fair amount of protection from ranged attacks, but their lack of armour makes them quite vulnerable to attacks from the flank or rear.

8	120	Cavalry / Melee Cavalry / (Cel_light_cav_reformed) Leuce Epos (Celtic Cavalry) Leuce Epos constitute the bulk of Celtic cavalry. Well-trained compared to many other cavalry contingents, they are invaluable to a Celtic army. They throw javelins at a distance, depleting an enemy before charging with their spears. They are trained to throw javelins, charge, and withdraw repeatedly, and they do it well. They are so named for their speed, rather than equipment. A bronze helmet, shield, and light weapons may not seem the equipment of any particularly great cavalry, but they are a solid medium cavalry force, capable of running down routers, defeating light cavalry, and skirmishing if necessary.
