Holosideros-Kaserne
Hastig aufgeschlagene Lager machen Heerbannsoldaten oder Untertanen mit dem Krieg vertraut.Ging es im Zeitalter der Helden bei Kämpfen noch eher um den Mut des Einzelnen und glichen Schlachten bislang ungeplanten Raufereien, wurden Armeen später in disziplinierte Einheiten aufgeteilt. Es gab immer mehr Konflikte zwischen den Stadtstaaten und auch von außen drohte Gefahr, und so stellten die Griechen um 700 v. Chr. die ersten Hopliten auf. Diese bestanden aus freien Bürgern, die als Infanterie kämpften und selbst für Waffen und Rüstung sorgten. Es gab keine einheitliche Ausrüstung und die Soldaten trugen Schilde und Rüstungen mit Familiensymbolen darauf, die über Generationen weitergereicht wurden. Sie alle trugen jedoch einen Hoplon genannten Schild, von dem sich auch der Name der Einheit ableitet. Dieser Schild sollte nicht nur den Träger beschützen, sondern auch den Mann zu seiner Linken. Die Hopliten bildeten in der Gruppe dann die berühmte Phalanx und marschierten dem Feind als solide Mauer entgegen.
