Nahkampfinfanterie / Speerinfanterie / (AOR_11_Celtic_Levies) Lugoae Vocontae (Celtic Levies) During periods of strife and war, it is sometimes necessary to call upon ordinary citizens to organize as militia. Called Lugoae, militia in Celtic societies are farmers, craftsmen, fishermen, and so on, called to brief military service in periods of crisis. They may train a few times a year to fight, and games and sports encourage a decent level of physicality, but they're still only militia, and can only be trusted to do so much. |

Kavallerie / Nahkampfkavallerie / (AOR_11_Celtic_Light_Cavalry) Vocontae Epos (Vocontii Cavalry) Vocontae Epos constitute the bulk of Vocontii cavalry. Well-trained compared to many of their enemies’ cavalry, they are invaluable to any army. They throw javelins at a distance, depleting an enemy before charging with their main spears. They are trained to throw javelins, charge, and withdraw repeatedly, and they do it well. A bronze helmet, shield, and light weapons may not seem the equipment of any particularly great cavalry, but they are a solid medium cavalry force, capable of running down routers, defeating light cavalry, and skirmishing if necessary. |

Nahkampfinfanterie / Nahkampfinfanterie / (bri_caledonian_clubmen) Lorgowiri (Caledonian Clubmen) The disadvantage of fighting naked is that these men have no armour to protect them, and so must survive on skill alone. Their primitive maces and targe shields at least give them something to defend themselves with, but it is their ability to frighten the enemy with a good charge that give Caledonians the edge in battle. |

Nahkampfinfanterie / Speerinfanterie / (bri_caledonian_levy_inf) Slowgoi Skamno (Caledonian Levy Infantry) In times of war, farmers are forced from their farms and grouped hastily, and if they are lucky, given some kind of simple weapon to fight with. Unsurprisingly, these levies are undisciplined troops who are better at fleeing than fighting. |

Nahkampfinfanterie / Speerinfanterie / (bri_caledonian_militia) Kombrogoi (Caledonian Militia) Common throughout Britain, spear-armed militias are composed of commoners and peasants who have been called or forced into local warbands to defend settlements and bolster armies. Given some brief instruction and a long spear and shield, these units are useful in support roles for heavier and better units. |

Geschossinfanterie / Geschossinfanterie / (bri_caledonian_skirmishers) Gaisowiri (Caledonian Skirmishers) The javelin is a common sight on the battlefields of Britain. The Caledonians have used this weapon for as long as their elders can recall, and make good use of their experience with the weapon. Caledonian Javelinmen arm themselves lightly and make up for this with speed and skill. |

Kavallerie / Nahkampfkavallerie / (Supply_Barbarian) Baggage Train Baggage trains, if attached to an army, grant additional supplies for a limited number of turns, varying for each campaign based on turns per year. A baggage train can supply armies even under harsh weather conditions, and is vital for prolonged military campaigns. |
