Aus winzigen Eicheln entstehen mächtige Eichen.

Römische und griechische Historiker beschrieben Barbaren als umherziehendes Volk, das von Jagd lebte und nicht viel von Landwirtschaft und Bau verstand. Nichts läge der Wahrheit ferner. Es wurden zahlreiche Gebäude entdeckt, die beweisen, dass diese „Barbaren“ Bautechniken durchaus beherrschten und Häuser und Anlagen errichten konnten, die Jahrtausende überstanden.

Die als Broch bekannten Trockensteinbauten in Schottland trotzten den harschen Witterungen und geben nun Aufschluss über ihre Erbauer. Viele Brochs hatten mehrere Stockwerke und Historiker streiten noch heute über ihren ursprünglichen Zweck: Dienten sie der Verteidigung oder handelt es sich bei ihnen um Prestigebauten, Symbole von Wohlstand und Macht?

Called Lugoae, militia in Celtic societies are farmers, craftsmen, fishermen, and so on, called to brief military service in periods of crisis. They may train a few times a year to fight, and games and sports encourage a decent level of physicality, but they're still only militia, and can only be trusted to do so much.

They often raid and in doing so regularly instil anger within the hearts of their Celtic neighbors. The Tekastos (tek-as-tus; Axe Carriers") form the basic warbands of the Raetians. They carry a Raetian battle axe to crush armour, and possess two javelins similar to Italic pila. They wear linen armour of Etruscan design, as well as a helmet. Brandishing weapons that allow them to stand against heavily armoured enemies, these sturdy, unique warbands can be very useful as shock troops"
