Nahkampfinfanterie / Speerinfanterie / (AOR_11_Celtic_Levies) Lugoae Vocontae (Celtic Levies) During periods of strife and war, it is sometimes necessary to call upon ordinary citizens to organize as militia. Called Lugoae, militia in Celtic societies are farmers, craftsmen, fishermen, and so on, called to brief military service in periods of crisis. They may train a few times a year to fight, and games and sports encourage a decent level of physicality, but they're still only militia, and can only be trusted to do so much. |

Kavallerie / Nahkampfkavallerie / (AOR_11_Celtic_Light_Cavalry) Vocontae Epos (Vocontii Cavalry) Vocontae Epos constitute the bulk of Vocontii cavalry. Well-trained compared to many of their enemies’ cavalry, they are invaluable to any army. They throw javelins at a distance, depleting an enemy before charging with their main spears. They are trained to throw javelins, charge, and withdraw repeatedly, and they do it well. A bronze helmet, shield, and light weapons may not seem the equipment of any particularly great cavalry, but they are a solid medium cavalry force, capable of running down routers, defeating light cavalry, and skirmishing if necessary. |

Nahkampfinfanterie / Nahkampfinfanterie / (AOR_11_Celto_Hellenic_Infantry) Keltohellenikoi Thorakitai (Celto-Hellenic Infantry) These shock infantry are Celto-Hellenic 'men-at-arms,' Celtic warriors of a mixed culture. While they are not of especially great station, they are capable warriors fighting in the Celtic manner, in a motley combination of Hellenic and Celtic gear and dress: long Celtic shields, a Greek helmet, a Celtic sword, and javelins. They soften up an opponent with their javelins and charge an enemy once they're weakened with the great force of Celtic warriors. |

Nahkampfinfanterie / Nahkampfinfanterie / (Dac_Carpi_Swordsmen) Carpi Machairaphoroi (Carpi Swordsmen) The Celticisation of western Dacians has led to a bigger number of swordsmen in the Dacian army. These units are skilled and versatile, and the Carpi are one of the most well-known fighting tribes among the Dacians. They are primarily mountaineers living on both sides of the Carpathians, which bear their name. |

Geschossinfanterie / Geschossinfanterie / (Dac_Elite_Skirmishers) Komatai Epilektoi (Elite Dacian Skirmishers) Selected for their better equipment and superior physical abilities, the Komatai Epilektoi are a step beyond the standard Komatai. Equipped with the same studded leather armour worn over trousers and woollen shirts, most of these men also wear a simple iron helmet. They can also afford higher quality shields and better weapons: two heavier, well-made iron throwing spears and a Celtic longsword are fairly standard. With their better equipment, they can stand in a battle line. |

Nahkampfinfanterie / Pikeninfanterie / (Dac_Light_Phalanx) Getikoi Stratiotai (Dacian Light Pikemen) The tribes that have contact with the Hellenic poleis on the western shores of the Pontus Euxinus form a distinct breed of warriors. These men are renowned for their ferocity, and all Macedonian expeditions sent against them effectively disappear in the Getic wasteland", Moreover Macedonian kings like Lysimakos knew Getic captivity. Their contact with the Hellenic poleis made them well familiarized with the phalanx formation. These men are equipped with Phrygian helmets, padded leather armour and large oval shields. For weapons, they carry a spear and a sica into battle, similar to most Hellenic phalanx soldiers." |

Nahkampfinfanterie / Nahkampfinfanterie / (Dac_Medium_Sica_Warriors) Epilektoi Sicaphoroi (Dacian Medium Sica Warriors) These medium infantrymen are the chosen ones" amongst the efficient and numerous Sicaphoroi. They are still equipped with a sica as main weapon, and still rely on iron-tipped javelins. They do not have helments, but wear a light and flexible composite leather jacket reinforced by bronze pieces." |

Geschossinfanterie / Geschossinfanterie / (Dac_Peucini_Skirmishers) Peukini Akontistai (Peucini Skirmishers) Peucini armies mainly consist of lightly equipped infantry. The vast majority of them are skirmishers, with maces and axes as secondary weapons. They have settled in the delta of the Istros (Danube), on an island called Peuce facing the Pontus Euxinus, hence their name. |

Nahkampfinfanterie / Nahkampfinfanterie / (Dac_Sica_Warriors) Komatai Sicaphoroi (Dacian Sica Warriors) The Sicaphoroi, sica bearers," are recruited from the peasantry, and fight with a falx and javelins, in the common way of Getic and Dacian warriors. The Sica is the common short falx used by peasants for harvesting. It is not designed as a true weapon, but over time, a true military version has been developed as a main weapon by experienced warriors." |
