Niseánské stáje

Někteří koně jsou ušlechtilejší než jiní.

Východní jízda byla hodně ovlivněná jak Řeckem, tak i Persií. Východněji ležící státy měly v oblibě šupinové zbroje ve stylu katafraktů, které po parthském způsobu chránily koně i zbroj. V důsledku toho si králové Seleukovské říše, kteří panovali po Alexandrovi, drželi dvě jednotky elitní jízdy po tisíci vojáků zvaných hetairoi podle vzoru parthských katafraktů.

Těžká jízda podle alexandrovského nebo parthského vzoru představovala v taktickém arsenálu východních velitelů kladivo, které snadno prorazilo linii protivníka nebo ho obklíčilo po křídlech a napadlo pěchotu z boku, kde byla zranitelnější. Pomáhalo tomu i použití klínové formace, v níž jízda najížděla přímo do nepřátelských řad a prorážela je.

5	60	Jízda / Vůz / (Ara_sabean_chariots) Seregelanan (Sabaean Chariots) The only chariot image that specifically depicts military use is at Hafrat Berd, where two of the three men in the chariot box are wielding weapons. The man in front appears to have a sword, and the man in back may have a bow. There are always two horses, but the box, its position, the number of spokes, wheel construction, and the number of men (1-3) are highly variable and often not very realistic.
