Barbarian Pagus (Salt)

Pěchota pro boj zblízka / Pěchota s kopími / (AOR_4_Belgae_Levies) Eburonae Lugoae (Belgae Levies) During periods of strife and war, it is sometimes necessary to call upon ordinary citizens to organize as militia. Called Lugoae, militia in Celtic societies are farmers, craftsmen, fishermen, and so on, called to brief military service in periods of crisis. They may train a few times a year to fight, and games and sports encourage a decent level of physicality, but they're still only militia, and can only be trusted to do so much. |

Pěchota pro boj zblízka / Pěchota s kopími / (AOR_4_Belgae_Spearmen) Batacorii (Belgae Spear Warriors) Batacorii are the rank-and-file warriors of the Belgae, a group of extremely fierce and highly independent Gallo-Germanic tribes living in Northern Gaul, who are well-trained and experienced in war. Shunning the comforts often afforded the members of 'civilised' states, they pride themselves on their rugged way of life, their toughness of mind and body, and their skill at arms. |

Their weapons include the dory, xiphos, and the classic large aspis shield. However, they are more mobile than classic hoplites, useful as flanking heavy infantry rather than a central phalanx unit. |

Pěchota pro boj zblízka / Kontaktní pěchota / (AOR_9_Italy_Taurisci_Axemen) Taurisci Securiferi (Taurisci Axemen) One of the last Ligurian tribes to survive the Boii and Gallic invasions and assimilation, the Taurisci survive in central Italy. Seen as barbarians by the Romans and most of the southern Italic civilisations, they are equipped with a scutum, javelins, and a deadly light axe, similar to the Illyrian and Venetian tribes. These axemen are renowned as assault infantry. |

They are skilled, hardy, and very competent in hand-to-hand combat, which makes them effective against the best troops the enemy has to offer. |

Their weapons and armour are those common to the Celtiberian elite. For weapons they have the famous Gladius Hispaniensis, which would become the standard Roman sword, complemented by javelins similar to the Roman light pilum. To protect themselves, they carry a scutum, a Celtic Montefortino helmet, Iberian bronze greaves, and an elaborate set of breastplates. |

Pěchota pro boj zblízka / Pěchota s kopími / (Ibe_Edetani_Levy_Spearmen) Neizes (Iberian Levy Spearmen) These levies prefer to fight only when their lands are in danger, because they cannot afford to lose what little they have, however they are able to participate in regional plundering against their neighbours if they can obtain some additional wealth through distributing loot after the battle. A precarious life with a simple diet makes a man dangerous; he becomes as cruel as the necessity he calls life. |

Pěší střelci / Střelecká pěchota / (Ibe_Edetani_Slingers) Karsken (Iberian Slingers) Armed only with their sling and a knife, these slingers are largely unprotected aside from their small wicker buckler. This makes them extremely vulnerable to any troops that can catch them in a melee, and even light cavalry is likely to just run through them without breaking a sweat. |

Pěchota pro boj zblízka / Pěchota s kopími / (Ibe_Edetani_Tribesmen) Iberi Lugoae (Iberian Tribesmen) In essence, these tribesmen are a transition between skirmishers and light infantry, for they are relatively more fierce than other peoples' support troops, and expected to be a part of some of the hand-to-hand fighting if given an opportunity. However, armed with a bundle of javelins, a spear, and protected only by a small shield, they should not be confused with real light infantry, and should not be expected to fight a protracted melee against a well-organised and prepared enemy. |

Jízda / Kontaktní jízda / (Supply_Iberian) Baggage Train Baggage trains, if attached to an army, grant additional supplies for a limited number of turns, varying for each campaign based on turns per year. A baggage train can supply armies even under harsh weather conditions, and is vital for prolonged military campaigns. |
