Pěchota pro boj zblízka / Pěchota s kopími / (AOR_4_Belgae_Levies) Eburonae Lugoae (Belgae Levies) During periods of strife and war, it is sometimes necessary to call upon ordinary citizens to organize as militia. Called Lugoae, militia in Celtic societies are farmers, craftsmen, fishermen, and so on, called to brief military service in periods of crisis. They may train a few times a year to fight, and games and sports encourage a decent level of physicality, but they're still only militia, and can only be trusted to do so much. |

According to Germanic tradition, as soon as these men receive their gaizaz (spear) and skelduz (shield), they are frije (free) adults, charged with equal shares and responsibilities in the tribe. Frije also means one's own, for to belong is to fulfill the duties of being free. |

They have civil rights, but also a harsh life in service to the warrior class. These levies are not a fighting force, but follow the army if the tribe's territory is threatened, and if the druids give them favourable omens. |

How could a man not be steadfast in the face of those who would steal his herds and enslave his family? |
