Pěchota pro boj zblízka / Pěchota s kopími / (Afr_Garamantine_Spearmen) Dorkim Garamantim (Garamantine Spearmen) The Garamantine warriors are masters of hit and run tactics. Launching raids from their oasis strongholds, they attack towns, outposts, watchtowers, and nomadic tribes. They strike first with throwing spears and javelins and, when necessary, can engage in close combat with their spears and leather shields. They wear a cow skin cloak for protection from dangers on the battlefield as well as from the environment. |

Pěší střelci / Střelecká pěchota / (AOR_10_Crossbows) Gastraphetes (Crossbow Infantry) This unit is the forerunner of medieval arbalesters. The gastraphetes crossbow, however, is more a handheld siege weapon than a battlefield weapon. The army of Syracuse was one of the first to use this weapon, with one unit of psiloi under the tyrant Dionisyus I. Later, this weapon would find its way into the Macedonian army of Alexander, used during several sieges by specially trained soldiers to kill city defenders. |

Pěší střelci / Střelecká pěchota / (AOR_10_Dart_Slingers) Kestrosphendones (Dart Slingers) The kestros is a dart thrown by a specially made sling, or propelled by a staff on a sling. It takes a long time to reload, but allows for more deadly and accurate shots than any other weapon of the time if correctly used, thanks to the shape of the darts, which can fly straight and precise trajectories. This weapon is mentioned in a Polybian account about new weapons in the army of Perseus, shortly before the last open confrontation between the Macedonians and the Roman Republic (169-168 BCE)."""" |

The bows they carry are a larger version of the Scythian recurved composite bow, enabling them to outrange, outshoot, and outpower other steppe nomad horse archers, making these foot bowmen the ideal counter to horse archers in a stationary exchange of missiles. |

Jízda / Kontaktní jízda / (AOR_5_Germanic_Cavalry) Reidonez (Germanic Cavalry) Reidonez ride small and sometimes poor quality horses, though they are excellent light cavalry. They are useful as scouts as well as skirmishers. However, like many Germanic warriors, they can lack battle-discipline and be overeager to enter battle against worthy opponents. This can lead them to be headstrong and difficult to restrain before a fight, as personal glory gained in battle is always welcome. Honour and standing come from fighting, and sometimes the urge for glory overwhelms their good sense! |

Pěchota pro boj zblízka / Kontaktní pěchota / (AOR_7_Alpine_Swordsmen) Kluddacorii (Alpine Swordsmen) Tribes from the Alps and some nearby territories have swordsmen of their own: the Kluddacorii (Klod-ah-kur-ee-eye; “Sword Band”). These men often wear little in battle, removing anything that might be a hindrance except trousers and shoes, and fight using a powerful charge after throwing their javelins in an attempt to overwhelm an enemy position or break a gap in an opposing line. Warriors from these tribes are high-spirited and very eager to fight given the chance, so they have decent morale, but their lack of armour is a detriment in a prolonged engagement, or if they are flanked. |
