黑色方舟海盜是一群惡名昭彰的劫掠者，他們一生都在遙遠的土地上進行掠奪。在納伽洛西社會中，他們是名氣響亮的萬人迷，是為了獲取財富和榮耀而遠渡重洋的精神體現。劫掠船上的生活充滿危難，但出海一趟若是能成功，船長和船員便會滿載金銀財寶而歸，財寶的龐大規模是大多數城市居民作夢也想不到的景象。劫掠船出海打劫異邦土地，一趟出去就花上數年之久也是稀鬆平常的事，他們只有在船艙塞滿奴隸和贓物後才會返航。黑色方舟海盜大多數的戰鬥都發生在船桅和擁擠迂迴的港邊巷弄中，因此他們偏好使用能讓他們在一對一戰鬥中搶佔上風的輕巧武器。彎刀、拳匕和倒刺短刀都是很常見的武器，當然也少不了連射手弩。海盜們不攜盾也不著金屬護甲，他們仰賴以海龍皮製成的斗篷來抵擋傷害。他們也攜帶各種卑鄙的裝備，像是網子、勾爪和帶刺鎖鍊。這些裝備不但在從溜滑的船側登艦時相當實用，還可以用來捉拿逃跑的受害者，而這些人的下場往往都悽慘無比。
