黑色方舟海盗是一群臭名昭著的劫匪，他们的一生都是在远离陆地的海上度过的。他们是纳迦罗斯社会的宠儿，他们的动力便是追求财富与荣耀。海盗船上的生活艰难而又危险，但成功干上一票便会带回城市工作一辈子都难以梦想到的财富。因此，海盗舰队常常会花上几年的时间反复劫掠外邦的海岸，只在船舱快要被奴隶与战利品撑爆时返回家园。由于他们经常在桅杆之间与狭窄的甲板上与敌人肉搏，所以黑色方舟海盗们通常会使用轻便的武器，从而在单挑中获取优势。弯刀、拳匕、带有倒刺的短剑与连发手弩都是他们钟爱的装备。他们一般不使用盾牌与金属护甲，而是会披上一件海龙皮制成的披风来防止自己受伤。此外，他们还会装备渔网、抓钩以及带有倒刺的铁链，它们不仅能帮海盗们抓住湿滑的船舷，而且还能逮住落荒而逃的敌人，然后将其大卸八块。
