Exemplars of the Tao
The Tao is the eternal quest for enlightenment. War may not aid that quest, but it's a necessary evil all the same.It is in the hearts and minds of the people that the Yellow Turban's true victory will be won, but the battle must also be won on the field and the exemplars will stride forth to deliver to the Han their defeat.
There are few better suited to pinning down enemy forces and deflecting blows with armour and shield, all the while returning any force dealt to them tenfold.

Caltrops
Simple nut husks, once trodden upon, cause extreme pain and slow movement. -
Smoke Screen
Thick plumes of smoke obscure line of sight, making units seem temporarily invisible. -
Miasma
The dense and tough undergrowth that plagues the jungles of the South is a hindrance to all those who try to penetrate into the heartlands of the Nanman. -
Circle
The unit forms into a tight circle, presenting a defensive front from any angle. -
Loose
The unit spreads apart, making it more difficult for arrows to hit them. -
Shield Wall
The unit presents a wall of shields to the enemy - an offensive formation best used to push forward under arrow fire. However the formation cannot be maintained in melee combat.

Frontline units are tough and able to withstand a beating; they will hold to the end, while others around flee. They are also adept at charging into enemy frontline units. - Good armour
Heavy armour protects this unit from most damage, but armour-piercing weapons will still pose a threat to them. - Low damage
This unit will consistently cause low damage; it will therefore take time for them to deal with enemy units.
