Before a weapon is wielded, it must be tested.

A blacksmith shares none of the glories and honours of warfare, but their workplaces do share the battlefield’s clangourous sounds of metal pounding on metal, as soft ore is hammered and bent into the shapes of war.

Whether casting or forging, the work is grimy, intensely hot, and requires brute force to be partnered with a skilled and precise hand. Though some decorative and artistic items are created, the focus lies in the mass production of weapon and armour improvements, to lend soldiers more courage in battle.
