Scortamareva (Skor-tam-ar-eev-ah; "Long-Shield Carriers") are some of the most well-equipped and heavily armed warriors the Lusotannan can muster. They are a fierce, well-drilled and well-equipped force, making them great medium infantry. They are armed with a well-made Iberian steel shortsword, a bronze breastplate, greaves, a bronze Montefortino helmet, and well-made javelins and spear.

El nombre de los scutarii, o 'escuderos', procedía de scutum, el término usado en latín para 'escudo', pero es muy poco probable que los íberos utilizaran ese término para describirse a sí mismos. Denominaciones aparte, los scutarii iban equipados con un tureo, un escudo de madera grande y ovalado que era tremendamente eficaz en los combates cuerpo a cuerpo, e iban escasamente acorazados, lo que les permitía moverse con mucha más agilidad que muchos de sus oponentes, especialmente los legionarios romanos con armadura. Esa facilidad de movimiento era una ventaja cuando se usaba para cargar hacia delante y, a continuación, fingir la retirada, con el fin de que el enemigo se lanzara en su persecución y rompiera él mismo sus filas. Cuando una unidad enemiga mordía el anzuelo, los scutarii abandonaban la maniobra de retirada y se lanzaban a atacar a los enemigos que quedaban aislados y fuera de posición; una estrategia no muy elaborada, quizás, pero no por ello menos mortífera cuando se usaba adecuadamente.
