They charge with great speed from behind their own lines to strike into the confusion of the battle, from the rear and from the flanks. Their spears, javelins, and swords are then just as deadly as if they were used from the back of a charging horse.

Body armour is rare, but helmets are common. They are good, fast scouts, and perhaps also use so-called "Germanic" tactics, which involve light infantrymen and light cavalry attacking together.
