征兵营地

征召平民和集结部队，并把他们训练成士兵的地方

快速征兵并成军是可能的，不管应征人员是百姓还是准军事化人员。征召兵由贵族或本地显贵率领，负责支援贵族骑士或职业士兵这样的精锐部队。比如帕提亚军队，就是根据国王的命令组建的，他要求他的属下召集一支部队，将他们在规定的时间集结在指定的地点。这样属下就会召集他的家臣，侍从武士等组建起一支征召部队。

时过境迁，希腊已经不再临时招兵打仗，而是依靠专业的部队。这些职业部队和雇佣兵都曾经和早先的征召部队很像，不过他们会将从军当成一种事业而不是义务。而且，这种方式打开了因军功而成为贵族的大门，否则他们的血统永远不能变得高贵。士兵们将忠于他们的将军，而不是旧的公共秩序

These medium infantry are armed with a thrusting sword and a thureos shield, and wear relatively light quilted leather or linen armour as well as helmets.
