Wioska barbarzyńców

Wioska stanowi serce ludu.

Rzymscy i greccy historycy opisywali plemiona barbarzyńskie jako ludy wędrowne żyjące z polowań, niemające pojęcia o uprawie roli ani architekturze. Nic bardziej mylnego. Archeolodzy odkryli bowiem liczne budowle, które dowodzą, że owi „barbarzyńcy” byli wytrawnymi budowniczymi. Wzniesione przez nich domy i umocnienia zachowały się przez tysiąclecia.

Brochy, odkryte w Szkocji budynki z kamienia, przetrwały mimo niesprzyjającego klimatu i dziś stanowią źródło wiedzy na temat swoich niegdysiejszych mieszkańców.

These archers wear a felt helmet, leather leggings, and a thick sheepskin coat with the wool turned inside-out, and carry a recurved composite bow. The bows they carry are a larger version of the Scythian recurved composite bow, enabling them to outrange, outshoot, and outpower other steppe nomad horse archers, making these foot bowmen the ideal counter to horse archers in a stationary exchange of missiles.

During periods of strife and war, it is sometimes necessary to call upon ordinary citizens to organize as militia. Called Lugoae, militia in Celtic societies are farmers, craftsmen, fishermen, and so on, called to brief military service in periods of crisis. They may train a few times a year to fight, and games and sports encourage a decent level of physicality, but they're still only militia, and can only be trusted to do so much.

Gaizoz Frije, whose name also means “Free Spears,” are composed largely of local farmers and hunters, Germanic freemen of the lowest rank, accustomed to frequent raids and tribal warfare from a young age. According to Germanic tradition, as soon as these men receive their gaizaz (spear) and skelduz (shield), they are frije (free) adults, charged with equal shares and responsibilities in the tribe. Frije also means one's own, for to belong is to fulfill the duties of being free.

(Alpine Sword Band)

Tribes from the Alps and some nearby territories have swordsmen of their own, the Kluddacorii (Klod-ah-kur-ee-eye; Sword-Band"). These men often wear little in a battle, removing anything that might be a hindrance (with the exception of their trousers and shoes). After throwing their javelins, they make use of a powerful charge in an attempt to overwhelm enemy positions or force gaps in their lines. Warriors from these tribes are high-spirited and very eager to fight given the chance. As such, they have good morale, but their lack of armour can be detrimental in a prolonged engagement, or if they are flanked."

The Raetians are a very bizarre Alpine people. They often raid and in doing so regularly instil anger within the hearts of their Celtic neighbors. The Tekastos (tek-as-tus; Axe Carriers") form the basic warbands of the Raetians. They carry a Raetian battle axe to crush armour, and possess two javelins similar to Italic pila. They wear linen armour of Etruscan design, as well as a helmet. Brandishing weapons that allow them to stand against heavily armoured enemies, these sturdy, unique warbands can be very useful as shock troops"
