Barbarzyński przysiółek

Z małego żołędzia – potężny dąb.

Rzymscy i greccy historycy opisywali plemiona barbarzyńskie jako ludy wędrowne żyjące z polowań, niemające pojęcia o uprawie roli ani architekturze. Nic bardziej mylnego. Archeolodzy odkryli bowiem liczne budowle, które dowodzą, że owi „barbarzyńcy” byli wytrawnymi budowniczymi. Wzniesione przez nich domy i umocnienia zachowały się przez tysiąclecia.

Brochy, odkryte w Szkocji budynki z kamienia, przetrwały mimo niesprzyjającego klimatu i dziś stanowią źródło wiedzy na temat swoich niegdysiejszych mieszkańców.

Lugoae Vocontae
(Celtic Levies)

During periods of strife and war, it is sometimes necessary to call upon ordinary citizens to organize as militia. Called Lugoae, militia in Celtic societies are farmers, craftsmen, fishermen, and so on, called to brief military service in periods of crisis. They may train a few times a year to fight, and games and sports encourage a decent level of physicality, but they're still only militia, and can only be trusted to do so much.

Vocontae Epos
(Vocontii Cavalry)

Vocontae Epos constitute the bulk of Vocontii cavalry. Well-trained compared to many of their enemies’ cavalry, they are invaluable to any army. They throw javelins at a distance, depleting an enemy before charging with their main spears. They are trained to throw javelins, charge, and withdraw repeatedly, and they do it well. A bronze helmet, shield, and light weapons may not seem the equipment of any particularly great cavalry, but they are a solid medium cavalry force, capable of running down routers, defeating light cavalry, and skirmishing if necessary.

The Celticisation of western Dacians has led to a bigger number of swordsmen in the Dacian army. The tribes that have contact with the Hellenic poleis on the western shores of the Pontus Euxinus form a distinct breed of warriors. These men are renowned for their ferocity, and all Macedonian expeditions sent against them effectively disappear in the Getic wasteland", Moreover Macedonian kings like Lysimakos knew Getic captivity. Their contact with the Hellenic poleis made them well familiarized with the phalanx formation. These men are equipped with Phrygian helmets, padded leather armour and large oval shields. For weapons, they carry a spear and a sica into battle, similar to most Hellenic phalanx soldiers."

Moesia is a semi-mountainous, landlocked region. The Moesians are grouped into several tribes and are frequently at war against their neighbors. The choice weapons for these infantrymen are a spear and oval shield. They are sometimes willingly recruited as mercenaries by the Greeks and Macedonians, to avoid their raids on the frontier by denying them their best soldiers.
