蛮族の小村 (穀物)
From tiny acorns great oaks grow.Roman and Greek historians often described the barbarian tribes as wandering people who lived for the hunt and knew little of farming and construction. Nothing could be further from the truth. A number of structures have been discovered that show that so-called 'barbarians' had a firm grasp of building techniques and were able to construct homes and defences that have survived for thousands of years. Brochs, dry stone buildings found in Scotland, survived the harsh weather and provide interesting information about the people who built them. Many were multi-storey dwellings and historians still debate their use: some believe they were defensive structures; others argue they may have been prestige buildings, symbols of wealth and power.

Missile Infantry / 飛び道具歩兵 / (AOR_27_Subeshi_Archers) Paya Hinam Dunai Purma (Subeshi Archers) These archers wear a felt helmet, leather leggings, and a thick sheepskin coat with the wool turned inside-out, and carry a recurved composite bow. The bows they carry are a larger version of the Scythian recurved composite bow, enabling them to outrange, outshoot, and outpower other steppe nomad horse archers, making these foot bowmen the ideal counter to horse archers in a stationary exchange of missiles. |

Melee Infantry / 槍歩兵 / (AOR_3_Gallic_Levies) Aeudi Lugoae (Gallic Levies) During periods of strife and war, it is sometimes necessary to call upon ordinary citizens to organize as militia. Called Lugoae, militia in Celtic societies are farmers, craftsmen, fishermen, and so on, called to brief military service in periods of crisis. They may train a few times a year to fight, and games and sports encourage a decent level of physicality, but they're still only militia, and can only be trusted to do so much. |

Cavalry / 近接騎兵 / (AOR_3_Gallic_Light_Cavalry) Leuce Epos (Gallic Cavalry) Leuce Epos constitute the bulk of Gallic cavalry. Well-trained compared to many of their enemies’ cavalry, they are invaluable to any army. They throw javelins at a distance, depleting an enemy before charging with their main spears. They are trained to throw javelins, charge, and withdraw repeatedly, and they do it well. A bronze helmet, shield, and light weapons may not seem the equipment of any particularly great cavalry, but they are a solid medium cavalry force, capable of running down routers, defeating light cavalry, and skirmishing if necessary. |

Melee Infantry / 近接歩兵 / (bri_caledonian_clubmen) Lorgowiri (Caledonian Clubmen) The disadvantage of fighting naked is that these men have no armour to protect them, and so must survive on skill alone. Their primitive maces and targe shields at least give them something to defend themselves with, but it is their ability to frighten the enemy with a good charge that give Caledonians the edge in battle. |

Melee Infantry / 槍歩兵 / (bri_caledonian_levy_inf) Slowgoi Skamno (Caledonian Levy Infantry) In times of war, farmers are forced from their farms and grouped hastily, and if they are lucky, given some kind of simple weapon to fight with. Unsurprisingly, these levies are undisciplined troops who are better at fleeing than fighting. |

Melee Infantry / 槍歩兵 / (bri_caledonian_militia) Kombrogoi (Caledonian Militia) Common throughout Britain, spear-armed militias are composed of commoners and peasants who have been called or forced into local warbands to defend settlements and bolster armies. Given some brief instruction and a long spear and shield, these units are useful in support roles for heavier and better units. |

Missile Infantry / 飛び道具歩兵 / (bri_caledonian_skirmishers) Gaisowiri (Caledonian Skirmishers) The javelin is a common sight on the battlefields of Britain. The Caledonians have used this weapon for as long as their elders can recall, and make good use of their experience with the weapon. Caledonian Javelinmen arm themselves lightly and make up for this with speed and skill. |
