兵士居住区
Permanent quarters can lead to better equipped, better trained levies.Mustering a force required careful planning. Levies were often expected to provide their own arms, such as spear and shield, or javelins and even bows. If this was not done, they would have to be outfitted at the expense of the state treasury. This took time, and the easiest way to get everyone organised and equipped was in temporary camps. Dependent on circumstances and population, permanent quarters or barracks for levies would be built. Barrack-based troops could be used to supplement town watches or to patrol borders and guard trade routes. Even so, conscript levies were usually poorly trained, and more lightly equipped than noble, professional or mercenary soldiers.

Missile Infantry / 飛び道具歩兵 / (Afr_Maure_Javelinmen) Mitnag'him Maurim (Maure Javelinmen) Maure infantry are fast moving skirmishing troops used by the Carthaginians and Berber chieftains. They are recruited from the most western provinces of North Africa: lands known for their warriors and their unique fighting style. They are armed with javelins and a sword of North African origin, similar to the Takouba used these days by the Tuareg people. The Maures are protected by a shield made of elephant hide and by a tunic made of animal fur that they use like it was a breastplate. |

Melee Infantry / 近接歩兵 / (Num_Melee_Infantry) Surby Numidim (Numidian Swordsmen) Numidian infantry may not be as reliable as the heavy infantry of other countries, but they will suffice. These men have some experience in combat, and have been equipped and trained with armaments including large leather Thureos shields, swords and throwing spears. They wear tall conical helms characteristic of Numidia and simple loose tunics which are common across Northwest Africa at this time. |
