Alexandria (Occupied)
Heir to Alexander.Even in the ancient world, cities grew up in places where people had already been living for a long time because the sites were defensible, controlled river crossings, had natural resources nearby or were safe from floods and other natural disasters. Cities, despite their rulers’ best intentions, were rarely planned. There might be sections where public buildings stood by broad, open streets and temples were laid out in magnificent splendour, and patrician dwellings hid rich opulence behind bland frontages. But equally likely, if you walked a few paces in the wrong direction, you would be guaranteed to find a maze of twisty backstreets, cheek-by-jowl houses, and run-down slums, alehouses, whorehouses and slaughterhouses, all jostling for what little space there was within the walls. The city was the world in miniature, with all the wonder and squalor that implied. Romans and Greeks equally could take civic pride in their urbanity and sophistication, and at the same moment be a little disgusted by the dirt and tawdriness of the back streets only yards away.

Missile Infantry / 飛び道具歩兵 / (Eas_Slingers) Palkhandar (Eastern Slingers) In battle, slingers are used as light skirmishers who rush forward against the enemy to pepper them with stones, only to flee when threatened. Slingers come from the shepherd boys of the highlands who use slings to herd sheep and goats. They stand guard in the upland pastures, and if they see an animal straying, they sling a stone in front of it to ward it back to safety. |

Melee Infantry / 槍歩兵 / (Eas_Spear) Nizagan (Levy Spearmen) These poorly trained levy infantry are supplied by the great nobles (Azats) from their estates in the more settled regions of the empire. They are armed with a spear and a leather-covered wicker shield. Though they are ill-disciplined, these spearmen are capable of fighting in ordered ranks. |

Missile Infantry / 飛び道具歩兵 / (par_elite_archers) Kamandaran Zhayadan (Elite Parthian Foot Archers) These elite foot archers are the most common foot elites in the Parthian Empire. They are professional, well-trained soldiers, equipped with a composite bow, a shield and a sword. They are also protected with nearly impenetrable scale armour and a helmet with a chainmail face mask. |

Melee Infantry / パイク歩兵 / (par_very_heavy_infantry) Gund i Sugdianavanig (Parthian Heavy Infantry) In general, historians consider Parthian infantry as anectdotal: They usually rely on local foot auxiliaries for land battles. But in time, their all-mounted tactic has become unsuccessful by nature in sieges of all sorts. Being very heavy, these troops are not useful for prolonged running on the battlefield, but for assaulting walls with bravery, skill and great efficiency. |
