Il mare turbolento non è il luogo giusto in cui tenere una nave di valore.

L’Oltretomba dei Celti era un paradiso a cui i Celti pensavano di accedere dopo la morte. Molti miti e leggende lo descrivono come un’isola e l’idea che i morti oltrepassassero l’orizzonte era comune a molti racconti. Il filosofo bizantino Procopio di Cesarea ci tramanda le credenze delle tribù dei Galli e asserisce che essi credevano che l’Oltretomba si trovasse a ovest della Britannia, la moderna Gran Bretagna. Secondo Procopio, i Galli credevano che quando qualcuno moriva, la sua anima viaggiasse verso la costa. Una volta lì, l’anima bussava alle porte delle case dei pescatori e chiedeva un passaggio in mare. Allora i pescatori conducevano quell’anima alla sua destinazione e tornavano a casa, ma non rivelavano mai a nessuno l’esatta posizione dell’Oltretomba.
