Syracuse (Occupied)
Strategic Hellenistic capital.

Infantería de proyectiles / Infantería de proyectiles / (AOR_10_Dart_Slingers) Kestrosphendones (Dart Slingers) The kestros is a dart thrown by a specially made sling, or propelled by a staff on a sling. It takes a long time to reload, but allows for more deadly and accurate shots than any other weapon of the time if correctly used, thanks to the shape of the darts, which can fly straight and precise trajectories. This weapon is mentioned in a Polybian account about new weapons in the army of Perseus, shortly before the last open confrontation between the Macedonians and the Roman Republic (169-168 BCE)."""" |

Infantería cuerpo a cuerpo / Infantería cuerpo a cuerpo / (AOR_10_Sicily_Bruttian_Infantry) Pezoi Brettioi (Bruttian Infantry) The Bruttii come from the southern extremity of Italy. These Bruttian troops are dependable medium infantry. They carry two pila, which they throw before engaging in close combat with their swords. They are well armoured with a variety of bronze pectorales, typical of the Oscan warrior class. Their helmets show Greek and Italian influence, known as Italo-Attic. They fought for Pyrrhus during his invasion of Italy. |

Infantería cuerpo a cuerpo / Infantería cuerpo a cuerpo / (bel_levy_melee_infantry) Batoroi (Belgae Levy Clubmen) Belgic peasants are thrown on the front line with clubs and axes, in order to break the enemy shieldwall, allowing other, better equipped units to exploit the breach. Such tasks require brute force, but also sheer courage, to be able to survive to the first assault, immediately followed by swordsmen and spearmen. |

Infantería cuerpo a cuerpo / Infantería con lanza / (bel_levy_spearmen) Bagaudoi (Belgae Levy Spearmen) The Bagaudas are not warriors. They are peasants levied for war and trained for a time with warriors. They are poorely equipped for the most part, relying on their wooden shields for protection, and using a spear for defence and close fighting. |

Infantería cuerpo a cuerpo / Infantería cuerpo a cuerpo / (bel_medium_axemen) Bogiocingetoi (Belgae Medium Axemen) Axes used by Celtic warriors are a relic of the Halstatt age. By 300 BCE, they have practically disppeared off the battlefield. But in some cases, experienced warriors are needed to perform breakthrough actions or to act as sappers, particularly when the enemy is entrenched. So the Bogiocingetoi, literally puncher-walkers," are axemen well-equipped for such work." |

Infantería cuerpo a cuerpo / Infantería cuerpo a cuerpo / (bel_naked_swordsmen) Luosusios (Belgae Naked Swordsmen) The Luosusios are demon-men, in fact fanatic warriors, who prepare for the battle with special inhalation or drinks. They traditionally fight naked and heavily tattooed. Their ferocious appearance and demeanor cause fear in the enemy, as Celtic psychological warfare has been integrated as a tactic in its own right. |

Infantería cuerpo a cuerpo / Infantería con lanza / (bel_peasants) Atecti (Belgae Peasants) With a wicker shield and a spear, these peasants are useful and cheap to muster. They have few truly military tasks. They act as a rearguard, mostly to protect the baggage train on campaign, and to support the more experienced Bagaudas in a line. But these men are not experienced and have no training, so they are more useful as a local defence militia. |
