Syracuse (Occupied)
Strategic Hellenistic capital.

Infantería de proyectiles / Infantería de proyectiles / (AOR_10_Dart_Slingers) Kestrosphendones (Dart Slingers) The kestros is a dart thrown by a specially made sling, or propelled by a staff on a sling. It takes a long time to reload, but allows for more deadly and accurate shots than any other weapon of the time if correctly used, thanks to the shape of the darts, which can fly straight and precise trajectories. This weapon is mentioned in a Polybian account about new weapons in the army of Perseus, shortly before the last open confrontation between the Macedonians and the Roman Republic (169-168 BCE)."""" |

Infantería cuerpo a cuerpo / Infantería cuerpo a cuerpo / (AOR_10_Sicily_Bruttian_Infantry) Pezoi Brettioi (Bruttian Infantry) The Bruttii come from the southern extremity of Italy. These Bruttian troops are dependable medium infantry. They carry two pila, which they throw before engaging in close combat with their swords. They are well armoured with a variety of bronze pectorales, typical of the Oscan warrior class. Their helmets show Greek and Italian influence, known as Italo-Attic. They fought for Pyrrhus during his invasion of Italy. |

Infantería de proyectiles / Infantería de proyectiles / (Ger_scandinavian_Skirmishers) Sitones Swajut (Scandinavian Skirmishers) The Sitones are a Germanic or Finnic people who reside just above the Suiones (Swedes). It is said that these people are very much like the Suiones, except they are ruled by a woman, which goes against the Germanic custom. Each warrior is armed with a bundle of throwing spears, a slightly longer spear for melee, and a stout ovular shield, but they do not wear armour. |

Infantería cuerpo a cuerpo / Infantería con lanza / (Ger_scandinavian_Spearmen) Suiones Druhtiz (Scandinavian Spearmen) From lands with a harsh climate in eastern Svealand, these people are accustomed to fighting every day for their own survival. In warfare it is up to each man to prove his own bravery and worth, so their uniquely savage charge into the enemy enables them to perform slightly better than their neighbours in that respect. |

Infantería cuerpo a cuerpo / Infantería cuerpo a cuerpo / (Ger_Sloxonez) Slaganz (Germanic Clubmen) Although the club is a crude and primitive weapon, it is still widely used by many nations throughout the known world. A club is efficient against shields, and especially any unit in a shieldwall, the most common tactic of any Celtic army. Suebi clubmen use a light, one-handed club, so they can carry and throw javelins at the same time. |

Infantería cuerpo a cuerpo / Infantería con pica / (Ger_Speudogordoz) Markamannoz Speutagardaz (Markamannoz Pikemen) The Markamannoz are a famous tribe, warlike but organised on the battlefield. Among the elites, they have famous spearmen, the Speutagardaz. They are skilled enough to form impressive shieldwalls with five meter long spears, a rather unusual feature. Speutagardaz use long spears with a short and narrow head. They are well equipped, probably having light axes, reinforced leather armor, and a leather and scale helmet, which is lighter and cheaper than the usual iron helmet, but highly protective. |
