Among the many legions in the East, Legio VII Anatolica has among the finest men in Roman service in its ranks. They have always been trusted to break Sassanid lines or die trying. The Herculean might of Legio Anatolica’s Jovianii and sharp wits of the Herculiani are not to be underestimated. They also acquired, though no-one knows how, a unit of Germanic Spearmasters. A contingent of elite Cataphractarii and Praetorian horsemen has also always been part of this feared unit’s roster of battle-hardened troops.
